Face-to-Face Class

💫1st part (5 min)

Ask students to 
1. Define skimming and scanning
2. Difference between skimming and scanning 




💫2nd part (10 min)

Sit in pairs. Each student take out a piece of paper. They are required to write about their partner. 

Students close their eyes. Tell them to visualize their partner. Open their eyes. Write 1 sentence in general about their partner. (Skimming)

Close their eyes again. Visualize their partner again. This time travel more in depth into their partner. Search their memories about their partner. Could be partner's 
-background information
-physical attributes
-daily activities
-senses like smell, voice, body language

Open their eyes.
Write a few sentences describing in depth about their partner. (Scanning)

Then, tell the students to talk to each other about their visualization. 

Teacher will ask the students :- 

 -Which act was skimming and which act was scanning?' 

-What technique did you use in searching for the information while you are visualizing? 

💫3rd Part

Groups of 3-4 (20 min)

Ask students to create 10 questions relating to skimming and scanning. 
 They may Google for questions and the answers. 

They need to create the questions and answers separately. 

Upon completing this, each group need to pass the questions to another group. The groups need to Google and find the answers for each questions created. 

Upon completing this, they need to pass back their answer sheet to the group that created the questions. This group will mark.

Submit these questions to Google drive

💫4th part

Ask students to complete the skimming and scanning practice worksheet


💫5th Part

Group work 

Google for 1 article. 

Create skimming question -( 1)
Create scanning question - (3)

Save the word document. Share in telegram group. Each groups need to compile all the articles and questions. Complete each of the questions. 
Submit their answer in google drive

ONLINE CLASS


🍏Task 1(a)

Groups of 3-4

Each group create 10 sets of questions and answers relating to skimming and scanning. 

Create the questions in any online games (eg. Kahoot, quizzizz etc..)

Share the link to telegram.

🎄Task 1(b)

Then, individually everybody need answer the questions created by your friends.
